Saying Goodby to "First Sunrise"

Today is a day of mixed emotions in the studio. I am officially saying goodbye to "First Sunrise," the very first piece in my new series. It has been a companion on my easel through many quiet mornings, and now it is ready to find its forever home.

The Final Reveal

Seeing it framed has completely transformed the work. The heavy, ornate frame provides a sense of history and permanence that perfectly balances the "New Beginning" theme of the painting. It acts as a window into that crisp, golden Mpumalanga morning.

A Labor of Texture and Light

This painting was a journey of finding rhythm in the wild Highveld grass and capturing the stubborn resilience of the lone sunflower. The thick, impasto and modelling paste petals still hold the energy of the palette knife, and the soft hazy light around the cottage reminds me of the stillness before the world wakes up.

To the New Collector

To the wonderful person who now owns this piece: thank you for connecting with my vision. I hope that every time you look at this sunrise, it brings a sense of peace, a reminder of hope, and the warmth of the African sun into your home.
